Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diawli is one of the most celebrated holidays in India. Beginning on Dhanteras and ending on Bhai Dooj, the holiday is observed to commemorate Lord Rama and Sita’s return home after being exiled for 14 years in the forest. Diwali is a celebration meant to symbolize the spiritual victory of light over darkness or good over evil. Tradition is that homes are illuminated with lights, candles and firecrackers.
